SENIOR WEB BUSINESS ANALYST
Summary:
Working independently, support a variety of medium to large IT projects to enhance the enterprise level website, ThomasNet.com. Work directly with project business sponsors, software end-users, application development staff, and others as necessary to ensure successful project completion.
Responsibilities:
- Work with a variety of stakeholders to ensure accurate specs for website changes:
- Assist in project planning, project task definition and schedules.
- Gather and document requirements using a number of different methods such as interviews, document analysis, process and workflow analysis.
- Evaluate information from a variety of different sources, reconcile conflicts and decompose high level data to more granular details.
- Conduct meetings with stakeholders to analyze and document project requirements.
- Conduct documentation reviews walkthroughs with project team. Includes internal Thomas team and external vendors.
- Coordinate and document change requests.
- Support training efforts for end users and staff members.
- Work with application development staff during the technical design, programming, unit-testing and implementation stages as needed to ensure requirements are being met. Solicit input from developers and other technical staff to determine level of effort required to complete tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years web business analysis experience with emphasis on enterprise level websites.
- Knowledge and familiarity with web standards and best practices - CSS, Design and Usability.
- Thorough understanding of the SDLC, with prior experience on a project across all phases.
- Proven experience in requirements gathering and documentation.
- Able to write specifications in all forms (business requirements, functional specifications, test plans, test cases and UAT documentation). Beneficial to have wire- framing experience.
- Able to contend with multiple initiatives simultaneously, and be able to adapt to changes and potential connections between said initiatives quickly.
- Experience with data analysis.
- Experience with documented software development methodologies.
- Excellent oral, written and analytical skills with a degree of comfort with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient at Microsoft Office or similar desktop productivity suite as well as diagramming software such as Visio.
- BA Degree; prefer computer oriented discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology or MIS).
