ThomasGlobal's® Did You Buy Survey Results Show That Industrial Buyers Prefer to Use ThomasGlobal.com for Their Sourcing NeedsNew York, February 6, 2007 - ThomasGlobal.com today announced the results of its Did You Buy Survey, revealing that global industrial specifiers and buyers are finding exactly what they were looking for when using the vertical search capabilities of ThomasGlobal.com. More than half of those surveyed said that they went on to complete a purchase after finishing their research of the products and services they were looking for.
With the emergence of new global lines of trade, sourcing agents and buyers continue to be savvy in their use of online resources to find the most competitive prices. Some highlights from the Did You Buy survey that was conducted randomly among ThomasGlobal online users who submitted Request for Quotes in the last 6 months:
- More than half of all respondents indicated that they requested price quote information from up to 4 suppliers before making a purchasing decision. While only 24% request price quotes from more than 10 suppliers.
- Of the companies that buyers contacted for price quotes, close to 85% returned at least some information regarding the product inquired upon. Seventy percent of those who did receive price quote information found it to be sufficient for their sourcing needs.
- As a strong indication that suppliers are taking advantage of these sales leads, more than 55% of those surveyed said they were contacted by a sales representative as a follow-up to their product inquiry.
- After requesting price quote information, more than 50% of those surveyed completed a purchase. Of those who did not purchase the product yet, more than a third said they would probably do so by the end of the year.
- Of those respondents who completed a purchase, 43% spent up to $5,000 on their order. Fifteen percent of those surveyed spent between $5,000 and $10,000, while 16% spent over $10,000 on their order.
- Industrial professionals have clear expectations when it comes to customer service. They want a quick, easy, and seamless transaction and prompt delivery of their goods. In this survey, over 94% of the respondents indicated they would purchase from the same supplier again.
- Buyers and specifiers have been moving towards more targeted industrial websites to find information on products and suppliers.
