Thomas Publishing's Ivy Molofsky Named HR Executive of the Year by American Business Media

(New York, NY) - June 19, 2008 - Ivy Molofsky, Vice President of Human Resources for Thomas Publishing Company LLC, was named Human Resources Executive of the Year at the American Business Media's second annual Achievement Awards held June 17th in New York City.

The award acknowledges the exceptional achievements and creativity of a human resources executive or department. An expert panel of judges included the ABM Executive Committee and human resources leaders. Ms. Molofsky joined Thomas Publishing 29 years ago, and provides HR leadership for approximately 350 employees, develops and implements all HR strategies and programs, and is one of six corporate officers of the company.

"Ivy is key to the success and growth of the company as Thomas Publishing continues its strategic expansion from 'pure play' print media and directories to vibrant digital properties like ThomasNet.com," said Jose E. Andrade, Chairman of the Board. "In addition, Mr. Andrade said, "Ivy's steady hand and enthusiasm for innovation are unwavering, and they inspire and energize our employees. She is also directly responsible for the unusually long tenure of our people, many of whom stay for 20-plus years and continually try out new roles."

Thomas Publishing's increasing movement toward Internet-based services has prompted her to go beyond traditional recruitment resources for the publishing world, and to seek out the personalities and skill sets that will allow the company to thrive in the 21st cen-tury. For example, Thomas Publishing property ThomasNet, the online destination site for industrial buyers and sellers, provides a breadth of Web Solutions to suppliers that want to be found by buyers, from online CAD drawings to in-depth online catalogs that are opti-mized for search ability. The company has broadened its talent pool to include engineers who collaborate with sales to help sell and service these industrial companies - and must engage them to consider a career path outside a traditional engineering environment. Ms. Molofsky has risen to the challenge by networking with local engineering colleges, and testing more targeted sites.

Last year, Thomas Publishing hired approximately 80 new people, including about 40 with engineering or technical backgrounds, largely as a result of this new strategy. Finding the right people is only part of the equation for corporate success. Keeping them loyal is just as important, and Ms. Molofsky advocates a retention strategy based on a strong benefits program and an unusually entrepreneurial culture – embedded in its DNA for well over 100 years - where employees are encouraged to develop their potential and control their destinies.
